Introduction

Earlier this year, DuneVision partnered with Tempo Run and GreatNews.Life to produce the Tempo Run Cross Country Coaches Show, a preseason special that brought together local coaches to highlight the energy and passion behind cross country in Northwest Indiana. The show focused on the people driving the sport—coaches sharing their experiences, their athletes’ dedication, and the goals they had set for the upcoming season.

The Engineering

The production was smaller in scale than our usual multi-camera sports broadcasts, but it still carried the same level of care and precision. Using the Blackmagic ATEM Extreme ISO for switching and OBS for graphics and encoding, we ran pre-rendered graphics through OBS explicitly designed for the show. By preparing all visuals in advance, we were able to move quickly while keeping the look clean and consistent. It was a streamlined setup that allowed us to focus on storytelling and presentation rather than managing heavy backend systems.

Even with a compact configuration, the show maintained the production values that define DuneVision. Lighting, camera composition, and audio were all handled with the same attention to detail we bring to our larger shows. The setup fit neatly into the available studio space and provided a professional look without requiring a full control room or large crew.

The Show

Working with Luis Guillen from Tempo Run and Chris Mahlmann from GreatNews.Life is always a highlight for our team. Both bring a strong commitment to community sports coverage and a collaborative energy that makes each production run smoothly. Luis’s experience in event organization and Chris’s dedication to local storytelling make for a great partnership, and their enthusiasm always comes through on camera.

The Tempo Run Cross Country Coaches Show proved that even a smaller-scale production can deliver a strong, broadcast-quality presentation when planned and executed with precision. It reflected DuneVision’s approach to every project: create engaging, well-produced content that connects with viewers and elevates local stories through professional livestream production.
